Cybercrime and other Related Crimes (Amendment) Bill 2025 approved

The Cybercrime and other Related Crimes Bill 2025 were unanimously approved by the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly, as amended, during yesterday’s sitting, after a third reading.
It was Vice-President Sebastian Pillay who presented the bill before the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly. The bill was approved unanimously on its general merits. The amendments in the existing law arose following several analyses which revealed the need for improvements to the current legal framework. The proposed changes received approval from both the previous Cabinet and the present one.
