PNQ addresses 13th-month pay, first-class travel and housing allowances

Ìý

The government has not committed to paying workers backdated thirteenth-month pays for previous years, Minister for Finance, Economic Planning, Trade and Investment Pierre Laporte told the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly yesterday.

He was responding to a Private Notice Question (PNQ) from leader of the opposition Hon. Bernard Georges, who sought clarification on promises he said were made by President Patrick Herminie during the 2025 election campaign. Hon. Georges asked when workers would receive backpay for incomplete thirteenth-month salaries, when the President would stop travelling first class, and when housing allowances for ministers would be abolished.
