A group of young people recently completed an intensive five‑day training programme in gabion construction, designed to strengthen local capacity in watershed restoration, erosion control, and climate resilience.
Organised by the Baie Lazare Watershed Committee in collaboration with GAEA ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë, and funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, the training brought together 10 students from the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Institute of Technology (SIT) and a representative from the Division of Risk and Disaster Management. Held at the Roche Caiman Fitness Trail with support from the Department of Agriculture, the initiative also formed part of activities marking the 50th Golden Jubilee of ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë’ Independence.
