¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë’ ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly hosts delegation from Ugand |31 October 2023
From Monday, October 30, to Friday, November 3, ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë’ ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly is hosting a delegation from the Ugandan parliament for a benchmarking visit.
The visiting delegation comprises principal librarian, Andrew Bayunga, and museum registrars, Tinyefuza Park and Kambendiho Casius.
The purpose of the visit is to engage in an enriching benchmarking experience, foster a stronger collaboration between the two parliaments, and exchange best practices with a particular focus on the operation of the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly Information Centre.
The delegation had the opportunity to meet with Speaker Roger Mancienne, to discuss the aims of the visit and formally commence the parliamentary exchange.
Accompanying the Speaker was the Clerk of the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly, Tania Isaac, information centre manager, Thelma Joseph, and documentation assistant, Petra Tirant.
The Speaker welcomed the delegation to ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë and remarked that it was increasingly important for parliaments to continually
an parliamentÌýcooperate and engage on such a level.
Despite being such a small parliament with limited resources, Mr Mancienne emphasised how important such efforts were, and he wished the delegation a successful and fruitful exchange.
For her part, the Clerk noted that Uganda and ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë have maintained a long-standing friendship, which has been enriched through mutual participation in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) activities.
The Ugandan representative, Mr Bayunga, expressed his deep appreciation on behalf of the delegation to be participating in such a valuable exchange and conveyed the highest greetings from the Speaker of the Ugandan parliament, Anita Among.
The delegation noted that one of the main aims of the exchange was to understand and learn from the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly’s historical preservation methods, maintenance of records, and documentation.
The ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly Information Centre comprises three units, namely the library, the archives, and the museum.The mission of the Information Centre is to contribute to ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë’ Parliamentary democracy by creating, managing, and delivering authentic, accessible, and relevant information and knowledge for the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly.
