The ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture (SIAH).
The MoU was signed by Godfra Hermitte, the director general for corporate services & facilities of the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly and Maryanne Marie, the director of SIAH, in a ceremony held on Thursday this week.
Present at the ceremony were the Speaker, Hon. Roger Mancienne; the deputy Speaker, Hon. Gervais Henrie; the Clerk, Tania Isaac; the deputy Clerk, Alexandria Faure; the Director of SIAH, Maryanne Marie; a member of the Terrestrial Restoration Action Society (TRASS), Dr Elvina Henriette; Jevad Brioche from Jays Consultancy; members of the Environmental Policy Implementation Committee of the secretariat and management staff of the secretariat.
The purpose of this MoU is to establish a collaboration between SIAH and the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly of ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë.
SIAH is currently the sole institution providing training in the ornamental horticulture and landscaping sector. With education being a critical pillar for our country’s growth and development, this MoU will strengthen the relations between the two institutions and promote ornamental horticulture and landscaping at the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly.
The two institutions will benefit from each other through exchange of knowledge, capacity building, green practices and improve the biodiversity of the parliamentary grounds.
Ms Marie expressed her gratitude for being able to have this partnership with the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly and looked forward to building on this existing relationship. The Clerk, Ms Isaac, took this opportunity to thank all who were involved in making this partnership a success.
She also mentioned that the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly hopes to make the most of this partnership and that the sharing of knowledge and best practices benefits all involved.
As part of its continued dedication towards leading in environmental conservation and promoting biodiversity on its grounds, the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Assembly has developed its own internal planned project to beautify its grounds with flowers, medicinal plants and endemic plants. This of course involves having a collaborative process whereby partners are consulted to find the best way forward.
