Dinah Hibonne appointed ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Council for the Elderly chairperson |02 July 2019

President Danny Faure yesterday announced the appointment of Dinah Hibonne as the new chairperson of the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Council for the Elderly.Â
This follows the resignation of Jeanine Chung-Faye who had occupied this position since August 23, 2018.
Ms Hibonne has had a long career in the nursing profession, beginning in 1976. She started as a student nurse and moved to more senior positions such as staff nurse, nursing officer, and senior nursing officer. She was a nurse manager when she retired in 2018.
Ms Hibonne’s appointment takes effect from July 1, 2019.
The vice-chairperson of the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Council for the Elderly board is Anne Desir. The other board members are Bibianne Fred, Justin Meme, Gerald Kiwale, Betty-Mai Sofa and Sophia Rosalie.
The chief executive of the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Council for the Elderly is Marie-France Pereira.
The functions of the ¾ÞÈéÎÞÂë Council for the Elderly are to:
- advise the government on all matters concerning the elderly;
- develop standards of care, with a view to professionalise and maintain a high standard of care and service to the elderly;
- monitor, evaluate and regulate domiciliary care being provided; and
- register persons wishing to be employed to work as domiciliary care workers.
