A strong weekend of chess saw Victoria Chess Club attract 36 players to its Rapid Tournament held last Saturday at the Roche Caïman swimming pool training room.

Such was the demand for participation that the club was forced to turn away several hopeful entrants due to limited playing capacity at the venue.

The event formed part of the club’s 10th anniversary activities, marking a decade of organised chess development and competition.

Players aged between 8 and 54 years took part across six rounds of rapid chess played at a time control of 10 minutes per player, with a five-second increment per move.
